HEALTH & SAFETY

WHEATHER POLICY

We realize that the separation at the beginning of the school year can be a trying experience for both parent and child. In most cases, it is best to say your good-byes and let the child leave you. If you are uneasy about this separation, we encourage you to leave the child with the teachers and remain in the school office or waiting room, not the classroom.

Though we encourage you to visit and observe the class as often as you’d like, remaining in the room in order to calm the anxious child does not allow him/her to acclimate himself/herself to the school experience. The school office will gladly provide a comfortable place for you to fill your time. Remaining out of sight of the child allows him/her to experience the separation and become accustomed to the classroom, while providing you the assurance of being within reach should a problem occur (as well as to see that they usually don’t). Please, please, please try to separate.

Thankfully, most parents at Thevenet over the years have been wise about such matters, and the problem almost never crops up. But it can, unless everyone maintains a relaxed, matter of fact attitude about separation fears. Talk to us if you ever sense that your child is unhappy, and we will help work it out.
